Wendy’s Fast Food – Mandarin Oranges?

Here at MeatHenge Labs we have two semi-small children. What this means is that from time to time we end up at a drive-thru fast food place. Wendy’s is pretty darned close so that tends to be what shows up on our dining room table. Well, here I was waiting for the sewer guy and my wife pulls up waving the Kid’s Meals from Wendy’s. Turns out you have an option other than FRIES. That’s right, a container of Mandarin Oranges! INSTEAD OF FRIES !!! How cool is that ?!? Of course Z wasn’t fooled and got the fries & the oranges, but just the sheer thought of some fast food place offering a replacement for Fries I thought was earth shattering news that warranted an entry. I say, bring it on.

  1. Wendy’s is also offering milk (plain and chocolate) as an alternative to soda pop which is another step in the right direction. Now if they could somehow get green beans (I ain’t down for no fava beans) and a nice chianti on the menu, I’d be set for life.

  2. mandarin oranges at wendy’s? they’re probably laced with msg, or something. can’t trust it, that’s what i say. whoever heard of healthy fast food?

  3. Well yeah, but I think it’s the thought that counts. I wonder what fast food will be like in 20 years. Probably about the same, probably.
Did you catch Garfield flipping you off in the background?

  4. This is probably too late, but MSG ain’t bad for you. You get more MSG eating Italian food than Chinese food. It occurs naturally in tomatoes, mushrooms, and Parmesan cheese. When I took “Rise of cults” class picking up my Anthropology degree, the msg scare was one of the things that bugged my professor so he covered it pretty well.

  5. There’s no msg in the canned oranges. But I get your point – canned fruit when compared to fresh fruit has very little nutritional value. BUT a little vitamins here and there is better than NO vitamins at all and is far better than fried taters. (I’m talking nutrition here not the yum-yum factor.) So I say, let the kiddies canned fruit til it comes flying out of their backsides.

  6. yes, tatters have a very nice taste factor, but i believe that the oranges dont have msg’s laced into them. that wouldnt be very nice

  7. They better not have anything in them. I work at wendy’s and eat them a lot. Hopefully there clean. (No fingers either) : )

  8. I tryed to enter my code to win a wii and i couldn’t. It said to type in these squigally letters and numbers and then i would be able to type my code in but i tryed it about 20 times…i typed in the letters and numbers and all that happened was a got a new set!…i think think that it all a huge scam!

  9. I am noticing that mandarin oranges bought at the grocery store (fruit cups or cans) are all a product of China. Those oranges are identical to what Wendy’s sells. I feel sure that Wendy’s mandarin oranges are also produced in CHINA. In light of recent shoddy products with hazardous ingredients, we might be safer to draw the line on consuming food made in China.

  10. I would hope the Mandarin Oranges come from China – HELLO!
    MANDARIN is Chinese!
