Fatted Calf of Lamb

Hey hey hey. Some very cool things happening at the end of this week. First, click on the pretty image above and check out that way cool ‘watermark’. It’s a Meathenge watermark! That’s really cool just so you know or need to pass that along.
Secondly, The Fatted Calf has Lamb Crepinettes this week! I believe that’s a first and since we’re having a family meal on Monday, I’m going to get 10! Better get there soon on Saturday morning, you gotta beat me. These Crepinettes have lemon, olives & mint. How awesome is that? Very.

Aren’t you glad that summer has finally come to the Bay Area? Yep, for those of you that don’t live around here (Hi Mom!) the deal in the Bay Area is, two months of perfect weather starting in September.
This means that we can down more than one beer before our “friend” (more like our nosy neighbor) Mr. Fog slips into the back yard. Coincidentally, Taylor and Toponia have come up with some delights for your grill. Might we suggest lamb? This week at the Berkeley market we will be featuring lamb 2 ways, one tried and true and one new. Though we have sung the praises of our Moroccan style Merguez sausage before, we feel compelled to bring it up again, as its’ classic accompaniment is ratatouille, the Mediterranean stew made of tomatoes, eggplant, onions and peppers. (coming Right Now to a market near you.) Make it up the day before, and warm it in a Dutch oven on the grill next to the sausages. Talk about easy, talk about delicious. Lamb, part two comes to us in the form of Crepinettes, our now famous “pillows” of sausage, garnished with lemon, olives and mint. Anyone else feel a mixed grill with a lamby theme coming on? Simmer some greens or shellin g beans in some duck stock, slice some feta and cucumbers, and there you go. Summer, The Sequel.

  1. Your first published watermark is on a picture of FRUITS!!! This is giving me a moment of disorientation,
Ohhh . . . I KNOW: They are the lords and ladies of the Court of MEATS! They exist but to serve and praise the lamb, the pork, the beef, etc., etc.
