Wow, this is the most meat laden Fatted Calf Newsletter to date. Not only that, many of the fancy things available need to be ordered ahead of time. Take note. It looks as though the Quail stuffed with Boudin Blanc & Chestnuts will be available this coming Saturday. Mark that one down, the boudin is AMAZING. I like it better than the Toulouse, just a little. Oooo, loook. They have mortadella again this week. I purchased myselfa slab last week and I have to say it was yummy heaven. The cured meat section is packed solid with all the best things. Finocchiona, Saucisson Sec … the list continues. Go see !!!
Plain or Fancy? Fancy or Plain? We at Fatted Calf usually like things kinda plain. Plain, but delicious, of course. If you go to a weeknight dinner at Taylor and Toponia’s, you’ll get the yummiest weeknight (or weekend, for that matter) food ever, and simple, simple. A fritatta with greens. Meat (duh!) grilled with a few herbs. Salad dressed in the best oil and salt, that’s it. Simple is relaxing, simple is pure, accentuates flavors, and simple works very, very well for week nights. But, um, in case you haven’t noticed, it’s Fancy Season!, and T&T can Fancy it up with the best of ‘em, (witness various Thanksgivings of yore such as TWO types of cassoulet with all the accoutrements, or a full-on authentically Alsatian menu. *Sigh*. Those were the days). But T& T are cooking for ALL of us nowadays, and, if possible, the menus are even longer, and the market schedule even fuller, and much, much
