A few moments ago my brother inlaw Meathead, brought in a snapshot from approximately 30 years ago. Guessing he found it in one of my sister’s boxes. She must have taken this in the mid 1970s some time. Good shootin’ Sis! Not only did he bring in this picture, but he also brought in the meat rack that is featured. I noticed the shiny aluminum salt shaker on the stove I still have. And I believe I can still find that wooden pepper grinder. This, right here, is Meat History.
Xo Xo
ps – Hey, check out that cool brown stove, eh?
That’s truly precious. Who’s fist is that gloriously lifted? Maybe you can do a 30 yr later recreation of the same image…
Hey Alice,
I’ve been recreating that nearly every week for 30 years! Whaddya think Meatheneg is? YEAH !!!
I had lemon water for breakfast.
Hey! Recognize that big fat round cutting board too? You can barely see it under mom’s elbow.
Fat Round Cutting board. Oh yeah, that’s solid teak. I got that next to my stove at home! RIGHT NOW.
2 scary things….
1) I got tons of photos like that throughout the years from holiday feasts. Before and after shots. Great stuff. Fun in retrospect, anyway.
2) Unfortunately, my photos are still embarassingly bad. Hell, my MOST RECENT roast-going-into-oven shots don’t look much different than your antiquated one. (blush! wince!) My food porn skills need serious help!
1 not scary thing…
1) That photo is a testament to your photography skills now. We see great stuff here.
Hey HJ,
Thanks for the kind words. I’m a Leo and will take all the compliments I can.
Maybe I should offer a Beginning Food Porn Skills Class?
Ooooooh, that would be SOOOO much fun!!! As an after-school activity from Food Blog S’cool – Meathenge’s Food Porn Skills class!
I’m with Alice. That does sound like fun.
We get to cook first, too. Right?!
Hmmm, Cooking & Taking photographs, gee I don’t know if I could handle it …
I was under the impression your sister (Mrs. Meathead) took this photo?
Hey Meathead,
As I said, I don’t know. My guess is it was me, the photographer is about the same height as mumsy. I believe this is an early shot, we didn’t do many large meals towards the eighties. Mrs. Meathead would have been 10 or less. Heck, it could have been Ralph or anyone.
Biggles
I gotta know for sure man,
I gotta know for sure…
