That’s not my city. This is my city.

I cannot supply an appropriate image, just put love in your heart.
A few years ago, that’s 14 in Internet Years I met via email a Lawyer Boy based out of New Orleans. Robert and I have had good fun over the years and exchanged comments and quite a few emails. I pleaded with him to buy a damned digital camera and add images to his site, but no luck. The man was off doing his own thing and has quite a following.
Feh, you know where this is going. The reason I mention this is that he’s got some local chef willing to step in and help. Please go look for September 2nd’s 2005 entry. Appetites.
Just because people loot, rape and cause mayhem doesn’t mean good people don’t exist and carry on.
Don’t hate, please give, send out love as you go to sleep. In case his post turns to vapor, click on –

A plea from a N.O. Restaurant
This is actually a more food-related post than I thought I’d be making for the next few months. I got an email from Janis Vazquez of Marisol which I will largely cut and paste below. I don’t know if anyone reading this can help, but I thought I’d do what I can to publicize the effort.
Dear Friend
Chef Pete is still in New Orleans. Marisol is undamaged. Please help us to help others.
We can feed the hungry with your help
Massive clean-up and rescue efforts are finally underway and all of those rescuers and remaining displaced New Orleanians are very hungry.
Chef Pete is co-ordinating with one of our specialty produce suppliers, who is now in exile in Texas. The two of them believe that they will be able to round up enough supplies to feed many people for many days & weeks, but only with your help.
To those of you who are members of the press, or who already work with government agencies, or who simply have friends in high places; here is our question: How can we contact someone in charge at FEMA who can assist us with funding this work and spreading the news among those most affected?
Chef Pete’s home phone still works! You can call him at 504 263-5112 or you can call me in West Virginia at 304 242-6610 or you can e-mail me at food4fuel@aol.com
If you are sitting on a stockpile of bottled water and disposable plates and utensils, that would be great too.
If any of you are chefs or kitchen workers, your help will be most appreciated also. Please contact Chef Pete or me ASAP.
I hope there’s someone in the area that can help with this. This is what we need right now – assistance coming from the grass-roots level, that doesn’t rely on any kind of governmental oversight or bureacracy for approval. We need that kind of help too, don’t get me wrong; but in conjunction with organized assistance, people organizing themselves and helping each other is terribly important.
I have seen some terrible things going on in my city. That’s not my city. This is my city.

  1. Yah I dunno. People are dying, dead, starving and now mosquitos are feeding on the dead.
This is some insanely huge task or tasks.
Time may heal all wounds, but it also kills.
